A Community on the Rise

Fargo built on the shores of the Red River. A community home grown by railroad company and bonanza farms is making one of the largest impacts in the United States. You may be asking yourself, Why invest in Fargo? You may not be too familiar with Fargo. For many, one of the first pictures that often come to mind is the movie Fargo that involves a murder mystery, and a community that seems so foreign to modern society.

The Fargo-Moorhead community is among the fastest growing areas in the country. The area is built on a diverse range of sectors which enables the community to be more resistant to recessions than other part of the country. Agriculture is the foundation of the economic stability. Fargo-Moorhead is home to a number of large agriculture companies, most notably John Deere. Additionally, North Dakota State University (NDSU) is home to a world class agriculture research facility.

The second major economic factor in Fargo is technology. Technology is a driving factor in the economy with Microsoft leading the way. The Microsoft Fargo campus is the second largest Microsoft facility only behind the corporate headquarters in Washington. The local university systems have invested tremendous amounts of research capital into the community.  NDSU is ranked nationally in the top 50 for research facilities, and is home to the Research and Technology Park.

Sanford Medical Center has a major presence in Fargo. Sanford is investing millions of dollars in a new state of the art hospital located in booming development area of the southwestern portion of the community. The large medical facility is estimated to bring in up to 2,500 medical jobs, and development in the area will continue to grow the workforce. Fargo serves as the major hub for all medical treatment for the region of Eastern North Dakota and West Central Minnesota.

Population growth has grown at a steady rate over the past few decades. However, the Fargo-Moorhead community is on the cusp of rapid growth. This growth is not dependent on oil, which North Dakota is rich in, but rather sustainable factors such as education, agriculture, technology, and medical. The US Census Bureau estimates that the Fargo-Moorhead Metropolitan area will see another 60,000 to 100,000 residence by the 2040.
